With an extensive background in psychology, teaching, fashion and business, Carolyn Gustafson founded her image consulting business in 1985 in New York City, and now splits her time between New York City and North Carolina.

Carolyn has a degree in Speech from Illinois Wesleyan University, specializing in Psychology of Communication. She continued graduate studies at Northwestern University in her hometown of Chicago, where she was the first woman chosen for the Florsheim Executive Development Program. She has also held positions in banking and advertising. After working as fashion coordinator and Director of the College Fashion Board for Evans clothing stores, she taught speech and diction as co-founder off "The On-Camera Workshop," a training program for aspiring television actors.
Equipped with this background, Carolyn studied all aspects of image consulting including Etiquette and International Protocol at The Protocol School of Washington, and is now a leader, mentor and educator in the field of image consulting.
Carolyn is a former NY chapter vice-president of both the Image Industry Council International, and the Association of Image Consultants International, and has attained the prestigious Professional Member status of the latter association. She was adjunct professor for the Image Consulting Certificate Program at Parsons School of Design.
A former international model and television actress, Carolyn is a credible and articulate image expert, often quoted in the media. She was the on-camera image consultant for NBC's "Million Dollar Makeovers" and "Mother's Day Makeovers" series; was national spokesperson for Clarion cosmetics; is on the Board of Advisors for The HaberDasher, a custom clothier for men; and she has been a guest expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
